Rehoming Process

REHOMING

Before taking on a rescue animal make sure it is the right decision for you and consider the care and cost your new pet requires.

Research the cost of training classes, vaccinations, kennelling, insurance etc and make sure you can commit to these expenses for the lifetime of any animal.

All our animals are vet checked and neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you adopt an animal mid vaccination the second dose is included in your adoption fee as long as you go back to our Vet in Bollington or Tytherington to have it done.

Any unneutered dog, cat or rabbit will come with a neutering voucher to be used at Bollington Vets when the time is appropriate for that individual and we will require confirmation when this is done.

1 month free insurance is also included for dogs and cats and we strongly advise adopters to take this up.

We will tell you everything we know about the animal’s history so that you can have a good idea of whether you will be able to meet its needs and whether it will fit in with your family and lifestyle.

For those of you unable to rehome we always welcome volunteers to walk the dogs, clean out, cuddle cats and generally help out.  We also have an excellent Sponsorship Programme run by Windyway Trust.

THE PROCESS

If you are thinking of adopting an animal please start by going to our Current Animals page and filter by species.  Not all animals are on the site, this could be due to a number of reasons including; health issues, under assessment or data protection.

Please complete the relevant application form in full, and on receipt of your fully completed form we will contact you to discuss whether we have any dogs/ cats/ rabbits suiting your requirements and whose needs you can meet.

All applicants will need to be approved via either a vet reference, character reference, or home visit.  We will not rehome animals into homes with un-neutered adult animals unless there is a valid medical reason for this.

Once your application has been approved, and there is a suitable animal, we will invite you to visit the sanctuary to meet the animal. We will need to meet the whole household and be satisfied that everyone is able to interact appropriately and safely with the chosen adoptee and meet their needs.

Please come suitably attired for walking a dog in grass if you are hoping to adopt a dog.

Our adoption fees are as follows;

Dog/Puppy – £160.00 or £300 for a bonded pair

Cat/Vaccinated Kitten – £80.00 or £150 for a bonded pair

Rabbit – £40.00 or £75 for a bonded pair

Guinea Pig – £20.00or £35 for a bonded pair

For older animals the Trustees will use their discretion and may provide ongoing support for existing health conditions – this will be decided on an individual basis.
